Overview: “The oceans face a massive and growing threat from something you encounter everyday: plastics. An estimated 17.6 billion pounds of plastic leaks into the marine environment from land-based sources every year, this is roughly equivalent to dumping a garbage truck full of plastic into the oceans every minute. As plastics continue to flood into our oceans, the list of marine species affected by plastic debris expands. Thousands of individual marine organisms including zooplankton, fish, sea turtles, marine mammals and seabirds, have been observed suffering from entanglement or ingestion of plastics permeating. The problem of marine pollution should be taken seriously and people must start to take actions.” —Oceana Protecting the World’s Oceans
This project aim is to draw more attention to the problem of ocean pollution, which start to impact. I used the fishing net to create the shapes of some sea animals. The net is filled with plastic waste, which shows the impact of garbage on sea animals.
